Back to music

Firstly let us wish you a supastar happy Christmas. Hope you've all had a lovely, cosey, happy family day. Best wishes and love to you all.

Then we must touch on the sadness.

R.I.P. James Brown.

A man who has touched all our lives. A man who changed the face of music totally and completely. Seriously, music... good music would not sound as it does if James Brown had never been. Surely he was supposed to live forever... well his legacy, his back cat... he's given us enough to listen to for all our remaining days.

If anyone needs a rest it must be the Hardest Working Man in Showbusiness. We salute you. We thank you. We praise you... We'll miss you.

Peace out James Brown... Thank you.

Picked up the first record from The Tribunes today. Quality sounds and words in a jazz poetry stylie, wiith something to say. Worth checking.

And they've also provided music for a CD supporting a film called Injustice which from reading about looks like a very strong, important docufilm about unlawful killings in police custody...

Sorry to be blatently rude here, but what the hey! Can this woman have any more differing opinions going on inside her head...

Wixked new video for Percee P with loads of bad footage of NY circ 1979.
Now you might need a bit of time for this lot... R Kelly - Trapped in the closet. A 12 part mini-series of videos based around a soap-opera story line (think Day's of our lives') sung/narrated by Mr Kelly. Very funny, stupid, odd, ridiculous... If you do nothing else, check the end of episode 9 and the start of 10... Who could that be hiding under the sink...?

For any of y'all thinking of getting a lil festive snow in your life. An interesting film about how Cocaine is made and another of how it's distributed...
Cheeky line of cement anyone?... Brought to you in a narco submarine.
All from this guy Matthew Bristow. Very interesting and good journalism... Big up.

And to continue my random anti-drugs rant... This story on the woes of swimming in Aligator infested waters... Actually I just like the line - "Police said it was unclear why he was in the water in the early hours, but he had admitted taking crack cocaine."

D'you remeber that Japanese Matrix ping popng thing... Well now it's baseball time.

Cinematic Orchestra are previewing a track a day off of their new album... and all of them on Sunday. Sounds nice... nicer than the over complicated concept of daily track previews...

(upate: just been informed that this latest release I was on about... is about 1 or 2 years old. Cutting edge from Lazy as usual)
Yet another film about a giant Panda eating you and your mobile phone... yada yada yada. Takashi Murakami.
Three Little Jazz Pigs. Man cartoons were soo great back in the day.

For no reason, check out the Peacefrog Records site. Such a wicked wicked label!

Stones Throw Jukebox always throws up mad nice freeness. Check out the Chrome Children mix by PB Wolf... This is the next ish from MF DOO00oo, Madlib and Dilla and others... Also check out that Georgia Anne Muldrew ish...

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

Life coaching from Mr.T. All good and a throughly nice man... but he's a bit anti the whole Lazy thing. Might have issues with him there.

Thursday, September 14, 2006

Nice, fun hot air ballooning video.

All that time and effort involved in creating amazing drawings with an etch-a-sketch, yet all I can say is LOONEY!
Nice, fun hot air ballooning video. I want to do this...

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

How annoying would it be ifPuffy changed his name to your name... About £100,000 worth of annoying. Yo Diddy, why not change your name to Jnr.D.

Monday, September 11, 2006

I don't want this to become the Banksy appreciation society... But this is very good.

Friday, September 08, 2006

Check out Waajeed diggin' for beats in a lovely little shop just outside Detroit.

Wow, a kindred spirit. "I muck around as a DJ in my spare time, and realised that a lot of the techniques used in artificial intelligence could be used to automate what DJs do," says Cliff... Sorry, but if today's "computer scientists" are only just sussing out that beat mixing is easy and could be done by a computer, then I think my chances of lounging on Mars this lifetime are pretty scuppered...
The Empire have released a mkII to the At-At Walker, to blast that chump Skywalker away... Big up Tash.

Have uploaded all 6 sides of some the best mix tapes I ever bought. DJ Muro is a Japanese beat digger of world wide fame. He has a seriously deep, unknown record collection. About 8 years ago he put out these three tapes called King of Diggin' 1, 2 and 3. All three had excellent Burger King rip off art work. All three are 90 minutes of mad, rare, unheard of funk, soul and jazz classics... and the mixing is all done live... and is tight nd funky. This was way before all the "Dusty Fingers" comps and re-issue mania we are in now. These are just the work of a man on a mission to find every record that funks. He's since gone on to rule Japanese Hip Hop and release comilations for Stones Throw and Blue Note... but only available in Japan... So download this lot, it's easier.

BBE have just released a compliation put together by Muro and two others Kon & Amir. All tunes are bound to be wicked and unfindable. There's a nice You Tube video of Amir talking about beat digggin'. Check.
I know all y'all have been putting off getting a Credit Card as you find they don't represent the O.G in you enough. Finally someone is sorting this out. JT The Bigga Figga (?!) is inking up with MastaCard to help us out with our lack of debts.

Wednesday, September 06, 2006

Banky's home video of how to do something to help Paris Hilton sell more CDs.

And... if you can get a copy of this Benji B mix cd then do. Tis very amazing... Far too good to be just an instore giveaway.

Top mix of all the original tunes Dilla used to create his grand Donuts album, available fromAme's mySpace page. All the originals, in the order they appear on the Donuts album... and a link to a you tube vid of all the covers.

Saturday, August 26, 2006

I think I'm probably the last to know about this... but let me share it with you anyway. Jarvis Cocker has got a good mySpace thing, with 1 very good track and one nice Icelandic folk tale.
